Exploring a new treatment for PMDD: Live Q&A with Prof. Inger Sundstrom on PMDD + PUA clinical trials
Held on 1st March 2021
In this webinar, I interviewed Professor Inger Sundstrom from Uppsala University, Sweden, to talk about a new treatment for PMDD that may be just around the corner!
Inger’s groundbreaking research investigates how reproductive hormones influence mood and anxiety, how reproductive events affect mood disorders, and how mood disorders affect reproduction in men and women.
Inger is currently part of a research team investigating the use of ulipristal acetate (UPA) as a potential new treatment for PMDD. Early clinical trials of the drug have shown positive results, especially in relation to depression, anger and irritability.
In the webinar, we took a deep dive into the treatment – what it is, how it works, why it may be effective for PMDD and any potential limitations. We also explored results from the clinical trials and what they mean, next steps and whether we can expect to see UPA as a new treatment for PMDD in future!
