PMDD Personal Stories with Emily Elson
Held on 8th Feb 2021
In this live chat, we spoke to PMDD and anorexia advocate, Emily Elson.
Emily was diagnosed with PMDD in 2016, aged 26, after living with life-threatening symptoms since the age of 12. Spending regular stints in emergency psychiatric care, Emily grappled with self-harm and suicidal ideation alongside her ongoing battle with anorexia. Fast forward to May 2019, Emily had a hysterectomy and oophorectomy for PMDD, and also underwent fertility treatment to freeze her eggs.
In the session, Emily talked about her PMDD journey, her experience of surgery, chemical and surgical menopause, and life post-op.
The interview will no doubt provide comfort, support and validation knowing you’re not alone on your PMDD journey, whilst at the same time providing you with useful advice and insights from someone who has gone through surgery for PMDD.
